Y is for Yellow Fields of Canola: ABC Wednesday

Alberta is one of Canada's Prairie Provinces and shown here is a canola crop growing as far as the eye can see. This is a wondrous sight under the big, blue, prairie skies and during a road trip to Alberta in 1993 I took many photos. These two photos have been scanned from 35mm prints.

My appreciation and thanks to Mrs. Nesbitt's Place for hosting ABC Wednesday. To view more ABC Wednesday posts please click on the link.

The canola wasn't yellow when we came through. I hated the fact that I missed it. It's beautiful.

Thanks for sharing.

I say Yes to Y.

Beautiful fields and great choice for Y. But what is canola?

Canola is also known as rapeseed. The seeds from this plant yield an oil that after processing is used in cooking oils, or as an ingredient in margarine.

Great post and very typical of the prairies....you can see as far as the horizon with nary a hill in sight.

Similar to our rape seed fields. I love the sight, always want to sing "fields of gold" by Sting.

Fabulous pictures...I am a real sucker for distant horizons & BIG blue skies, & you've nailed it.

This is the best kind of nature picture i can image. Trying to catch the color in some of my paintings and that is difficult
Must get a new canvas on the easel today

So that is Canola.
Good yellow choice as well as being a good shot.
Everything taken by me before October '05 has been scanned - not that I have done all of them. Around two thousand pictures at least.

Actually I have painted a landscape from the second photo posted here. This scene just begged for paint and canvas!

I have never seen a canola field before. Actually, I'm not sure that I even knew what canola was. Great pictures.

I've been by before, but apparently not as often as I should. Lovely fields and another trip to a place I have never been.

Beautiful shots. Love how these gold just stretches forever. I use canola oil but you know, I haven't got a clue what a canola is. :-D LOL! I feel a Google search coming on.
