Winter Machines: Sidewalk Plow

A heavy snowfall kept this little sidewalk plow busy all day long clearing the falling snow from our village sidewalks. Yesterday was definitely a day for snowplowing and shoveling.

Storm Walking

We are now, at this time of posting, within the grips of yet another winter storm with ten to fifteen centimeters of snow forecast. Later today, winds and blowing snow will add another stormy dimension to the mix. How quickly a storm can change the winter landscape of the same location; from the tranquility of yesterday's posting to the stormy one presented today with this early morning snowfall.

After a brief respite from winter over the holidays, snow began falling again last evening and created a wintery, white world all over my yard once more.

Snow Rollers

Following a major winter storm earlier this week large snowballs were seen dotting fields around the Fredericton area. This unusual winter phenomena of Snow Rollers, which needs just the right weather conditions in order to form, was the result of gusty winds picking up snow and hurling and rolling it along open spaces resulting in large snowballs accumulating in fields and meadows.

Trans-Canada All the Way

On previous road trips there were still some sections of the Trans-Canada highway single lane traffic west of Woodstock. However, just ten days ago we enjoyed surveying new landscapes as we travelled all the way to the Quebec border on the newly opened sections of the Trans-Canada. It is now entirely double-laned.
