Covered Bridge at Mill Settlement
An idyllic summer scene in NB, in this case an old covered bridge crossing over the waters of the South Oromocto River at Mill Settlement. Sometime, before 1841, William Scoullar had a lumber mill at Mill Settlement West.

Street Signs - What's in a Name?
The mention of an ancestoral gggrandfather by a viewer led me and my curosity to this beautiful street corner of Scoullar and Neptunus in Oromocto last weekend. The street sign is a nice way I think, to honour the memory of an early shipbuilder in this area. In 1847 William Scoullar built a ship of 800 tons at Oromocto, Sunbury County. The ship's name? The Neptuna.
Also, a William Scoullar was a member of the Provincial Legislature, representing Sunbury County for a number of years.

Saint Croix Island in the Distance
This island was the location of the disasterous, first attempt of settlement by the French in Acadia during the severe winter of 1604-05.
