H is for Hot Air Balloon: ABC Wednesday Round #3
What a magnificent photo opportunity awaited me when I decided to attend the 23rd annual
Atlantic International Balloon Fiesta last weekend at Sussex, NB. It was my first time attending and I have marked it on my calendar and hope to be in attendance again next September! For information on the balloons and balloonists just click on the Balloon Fiesta link.
The excitement started to rise as the balloons gradually filled and the crowd waited to see which one would be first to lift off the ground.
A couple of shape balloons, Jumping Jack and Mr. Peanut, were real favourites of the little ones in the crowd.

D is for Dinosaur: ABC Wednesday Round #3
This post is all about , "Once upon a time..." when dinosaurs roamed the lands of Alberta, Canada. I am also delving into the past by using some of my old 35mm photos taken sometimes in the 1990's. This first photo above is of a replica of a Tyrannosaurus Rex standing in front of the tourist bureau in Milk River, Alberta. In the background of this picture are perhaps what some might consider more modern day dinosaurs, those of grain elevators, many of which have now disappeared from the landscape of this prairie province.

'BIG' Fiddle for Maniac Monday
The theme for Manic Monday this week is BIG! Standing 14 feet tall in the community of Harvey Station, NB, the home town of internationally renowned fiddler Don Messer (1909-1973); this large fiddle was built as a tribute to him and his contribution to music.

Thursday Challenge: Kite Over Saskatchewan
After reading of this week's theme I found this old 35 mm photo I had taken of a kite in 1993. We had stopped to take a break from our road trip in Saskatchewan and decided to do a bit of kite flying in the wide open spaces of the prairies.

Storm Clouds Over Two Small Prairie Towns: Sky Watch Friday
Dark and threatening storm clouds roll ominously above in the big sky over these two small Alberta prairie towns. Many of the signature grain elevators seen on the horizons once lent identification to these communities at a distant glance but today very few of these tall sentinels remain. These 35mm photos were taken in 1993.
My appreciative thanks to Tom Wigley for hosting Sky Watch Friday . To view other Sky Watch entries please visit Tom's page.

Y is for Yellow Fields of Canola: ABC Wednesday
Alberta is one of Canada's Prairie Provinces and shown here is a canola crop growing as far as the eye can see. This is a wondrous
sight under the big, blue, prairie skies and during a road trip to Alberta in 1993 I took many photos. These two photos have been scanned from 35mm prints.
